Restorative dentistry is the branch of dentistry that deals with correcting dental defects in people. We all like to have pearly white teeth without any flaws. However, everyone is not so lucky and has to find dental defects at one point or another. Restorative dentists can perform a variety of restorative dentistry procedures to help people deal with different types of dental conditions. The restorative dentistry procedures that must be performed for a dental condition depend on the person’s overall dental health.

There are different types of restorative dentistry procedures that can be done to correct a dental condition. Patients require different types of treatment procedures depending on the condition they are facing. Understanding the current condition of your dental health is ideal for determining the treatment procedure for a condition. Some of the restorative dentistry procedures are discussed below:

Dental implants.

Implants are an ideal means of replacing broken teeth. This is a permanent solution for tooth loss. Implants are, in fact, artificial teeth that are used by a restorative dentist to replace missing teeth. Missing teeth can cause many difficulties when chewing food, speaking properly, and most important of all, smiling broadly. Implants are attached to the jaw below the gums to support dentures and dental bridges.

Dental bridges.

Bridges are the ideal solution to fill gaps, which appear due to missing teeth. As the term itself implies, a dental bridge bridges the gap due to missing teeth. Dental bridges are made up of a false tooth joined by two crowns. False teeth are known as dentures or dental bridges. These can be composed of alloys, porcelain, or gold as desired by the individual.

Dental crown.

This is another dental restoration procedure that can be adopted to restore broken or decayed teeth. Sometimes a tooth can rot or break, but the root can still be in perfect shape. Dental crowns are the perfect solution for people facing this condition. Dental crowns provide a covering for the entire broken or decaying tooth that is above the gum line to give strength to the broken teeth.

Porcelain veneers.

Veneers are the best source for correcting broken, chipped, or cracked teeth. A thin layer of wafer-like porcelain is used to bond the cracked or broken part of the teeth. Joining can be done both chemically and physically. The porcelain veneers available these days are very thin and natural-looking. No one will recognize that the links are artificial. Of course, unless you tell someone, there is no way to find out.

Porcelain crowns.

This is another means of correcting dental defects. Porcelain crowns are a type of restoration that can be used to cover the portion of teeth that have dark metal fillings. Dark fillings on teeth look very ugly when a person smiles broadly. Porcelain crowns can be used to cover such dark-colored fillings.

There are many other restorative dentistry procedures that can be used to correct dental defects. Advanced technology has made it possible to correct almost any type of dental defect. All you need to do is consult with a dentist and find out which procedure is best to treat your condition. I’m sure you won’t compromise your smile when you have help correcting it.
